Graham Firth G3MFJ (our club treasurer) describes using Paypal to renew your subscription, join the GQRP club, or pay for club sales items:-

Membership:
The Paypal membership rate is £6 (GBP) for UK and Europe and £8 (GBP) for DX countries. Your card will be debited in your own currency at the prevailing exchange rate.

You do have to create an account but that is easy - you just supply an email address and a password. You do not have to give them any bank information at this stage if you don't want to.

When you log in, you put in the email address of the recipient (g3mfj@gqrp.co.uk) and then tell it what you want to pay (£6 or £8 - see above). That part is a secure transaction - just like paying Amazon for books etc, and of course you will have to give them the info about the card that you wish to use. Paypal will not store this information - unless you agree that they can (for future payments). If you choose not to store it, then every time you log in to make a payment, they will ask for the card details again.

You can (and should) also include a message to me and that is important so that I know why I am getting the payment. A name and callsign is required for a new member plus I need you to send me all the information contained in this text file.

If you are an existing member renewing then I need your callsign and membership number - this makes life easier for both myself and Tony G4WIF (our membership secretary).

When the payment is accepted, I get an email to say that we have received a payment and I have to log in to accept it. We get the amount in sterling - less their charges of course. At the moment, as we are trying this system, the G-QRP Club is absorbing the charges which amount to about 6%, actually slightly more than a credit card transaction. This may have to change when we have a little more experience of the system.

Club Sales:
Please first refer to the club sales pages for the item and cost. You are advised to email Graham first and he will supply the total cost including postage. You can then follow the above procedure making sure that Graham has your callsign, membership number and postal address.
